Dead website lol. Anyways, I’m living the life now as an NSOC Analyst for an MSSP. So that’s both security and network operations, but mostly focusing on the cybersecurity part, which makes me feel like I’ve really made it into the industry and achieve quite a big dream of mine. It’s been a few months since I’ve started actually. I came in wanting to learn more about operations stuff, and I will say, I certainly get more than enough of it here.
It’s more or less the same technologies as before, but coming from a systems integrator background, there’s a lot more emphasis put on tracking things, which involves a lot of communication. The operations are 24/7 as well, so there’s always this alertness that has to be maintained at all times. I work longer hours in a day, and things can get quite hectic and grueling. If there was a lot of randomness in my previous work, the work here feels more like stacking a lot of things as I familiarize myself more with customer environments.
Things can also get quite monotonous, but I still feel like I’m overall growing. Bits and pieces added to the skillset everyday. It can get difficult, but it also helps there’s a diverse range of customers that makes me experience a lot of different things. I think I’m slowly working my way up, which I wanted to feel more before. It’s happening right now, and I’m glad I have such a great team to help guide me.
